The Netherlands, 2023 – Roll-on/Roll-off carrier
A fire broke out on board the Fremantle Highway on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. The ship then sailed 27 kilometers north of Ameland. After the fire spread across the ship, the 23 crew members were evacuated. Unfortunately one person has died. It was a complicated rescue operation due to the fire and smoke on the ship. The ship was towed into Eemshaven on Thursday, August 3, for further fire-fighting work and to unload the (electric) cars on board.
The Corporate Travel Clinic was asked for medical guidance both above and under water. The Fremantle Highway was transferred to the new owner in early September 2023, who will repair the ship in the Damen Shipyards dock in Rotterdam.
